BOARD

Tami, Dominic, and Gino DePalma in happy times
Dominic prepares for homecoming with parents Tami and Gino in his junior year of high school.

TAMI DePALMA, CHAIR

Tami is Dominic’s mom and has made it her mission to educate teens about the dangers of driving under the influence. She wants to make sure no one else goes through what she and her family are surviving. With a background in business, marketing, public relations, and social media, she is the voice of the organization. Tami has presented “That CAN’T Happen to Me: Turning Denial into Survival” to over 1,000 high school students, “What is IT? Here’s What IT Means to “Do It for Dominic D!” at the 1st Annual Dominic DePalma Memorial Scholarship Luncheon and Foosball Tournament, and has worked with MADD to lead a media training and emcee their Giving and Gratitude event.

GINO DePALMA, VICE CHAIR

Dominic’s dad offers a softer voice on the board, yet remains powerfully passionate about making streets safer before their daughter, Eleana, and her friends learn to drive. Gino was a School Resource Officer for the Golden Police Department, where he toured a crash car that killed one of his students. A Marine Corps Veteran, he also served as a sniper on the Jeffco Area SWAT Team.

MELISSA WHITMER, TREASURER

Melissa is a close and longtime friend of Tami’s. She has been the driving force behind every important difference made by the organization. Her son, Lane, was one of Dominic’s best friends and teammates. She also helped with the Memorial Bench project. Melissa has served on many boards and is currently Senior Vice President at Huntington Bank.

SHERI FISHER, MA,
AT-LARGE BOARD MEMBER

Sheri is Dominic’s aunt, Tami’s sister, and brings us her impressive marketing, organizational management, and communication skills. She has been fighting against impaired driving since the 1990s, where she served as the Executive Director of Colorado Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth, where her team ran the state-wide public awareness Red Ribbon Campaign and the Parenting As Prevention program to teach parenting skills, a research-based prevention program for families and children. Sheri loved her role as a yoga teacher for over 12 years and co-author the book:Standing Room Only: How to be THAT Yoga Teacher, which outlines her exclusive Root to Rise Yoga Teaching Method to help yoga teachers teach better yoga. She is an intuitive life coach, Professional Coach and Group Facilitator.

ROGER DOWD, SECRETARY

Roger, Dominic’s uncle, is a former administrator for Jeffco Schools and educator for Adams County Schools. His experience in board management includes the Dorian DeLong Arts and Music Scholarship. Roger serves as board secretary and runs communications, auctions, and events.

LORI HOLDEN

While Dominic’s aunt/Tami’s sister may not officially serve on the board, Lori is the behind-the-scenes glue that keeps the website updated, ensuring cohesion and coordination of all outreach efforts. Together with Sheri, Lori co-authored The Root To Rise Yoga Teaching Method. An expert in open adoption, she has authored two additional books: The Open-Hearted Way to Open Adoption and Adoption Unfiltered. Lori created and hosts the podcast Adoption: The Long View and was trusted to make the delicate presentation of “Surviving Grief” to participants of the MADD Candlelight Vigil.
